Assessment and Reporting

•Progress in all subjects is regularly monitored and assessed.
•From Years 2 - 6, children are assessed annually in core subjects using standardised test materials.  These standardised tests or SATs are also undertaken in Year 9.
•From Year 7 onwards parents receive termly interim reports showing progress in all subjects.
•In Year 11 children sit full GCSE examinations.  Some subjects also have course work elements and modular tests throughout Years 10 and 11.

Autumn Term

Parents are invited to a ‘meet the teacher’ evening to be introduced to any new teachers their child may have and also to hear about the planned programmes of study for the year.  This is an open forum where teachers are always happy to address any questions or concerns from parents.

Spring Term

Individual parent interview sessions are held for parents to talk specifically with their child’s teachers about progress and levels of achievement. Any particular queries or concerns should be discussed.

Summer Term

Parents receive an annual report on their child’s progress covering all aspects of the curriculum and containing test results where appropriate. There is also an Open Day where children can celebrate their achievements and where parents can see the broader picture by viewing the whole school.

Open Door Policy

No matter how trivial an issue may seem it is always worth dealing with before it grows into something bigger. It is for this reason that we have an Open Door Policy and are happy to meet with any parent throughout the year. If you wish to speak with a class/form teacher please call in or telephone to arrange a convenient time.

If you would rather speak with the Headteacher or Deputy Head we are always happy to see you and will do so immediately if the situation is most urgent.

The School / Home partnership is vital and good communications are the key to making it successful.
